How to Perform the STI Check – Step by Step

The STI Check Basic and the STI Check Complete can be easily and conveniently performed from home. Follow this guide to ensure correct sample collection and a reliable test result.

✅ Important Notes in Advance - Please Pay Attention

To ensure your urine sample can be reliably analyzed in the lab, please observe the following points:

• Use the first urine stream (not the midstream!), ideally the first morning urine or urinate at least 2–3 hours after the last bathroom visit.
• Wash your hands and genital area thoroughly with clear water (without soap) and dry yourself well.
• Do not touch the inside of the Monovette or the urine suction device – this will prevent contamination.
• Activate your sample as described in the instructions in step 10. If you do not follow this step, your sample cannot be evaluated and will be disposed of by the laboratory.
• Send the sample preferably on the day of collection or at the latest on the next working day.
• The official instructions for the Urine-Monovette® can be found on the website of the manufacturer Sarstedt. Only refer to part b.

📋 Step 1: Preparation

1. Wash hands thoroughly and dry carefully.

2.Intimate area cleaning:

• Women: Spread labia, clean vulva with water, dry.
• Men: Retract foreskin, clean glans with water, dry.

3. Open the email "Important for your test result: Please activate your test", as you will need it later.

🧪 Step 2: Performing the urine collection

4. Urinate into a clean container (e.g., a clean glass jar with a wide opening). Make sure to catch only the first urine stream (the first 10-20 ml).

5. Open the yellow cap of the Urin-Monovette® and set it aside.

6. Attach the included plastic straw (like a drinking straw) to the opening of the Monovette.

7.Immerse the suction device into the urine container and pull the plunger of the Monovette slowly up to the mark (~2 ml).

8. Hold the Monovette upright and pull the plunger rod all the way down to empty the suction tip.

9. Detach the suction device and carefully break off the plunger rod at the predetermined breaking point. Securely seal the Monovette with the yellow cap.

📦 Step 3: Registration & Shipping

10. Open the pre-received email and click on "Activate Test" in the test profile. Now follow the further steps and fill in your details so that the order can be sent to the laboratory.

11. Place the sealed Monovette into the plastic bag with absorbent fleece .

12.Squeeze out excess air from the bag and seal it carefully.

13. Place the protective bag into the pre-addressed return box and seal it carefully.

14. Add your return address on the return label.

15. Drop the box in a mailbox on the same day or hand it in at a post office.

16. Once your sample has been analyzed in the lab, you will receive a notification and can view your results online.
