What should I do if I don't understand my blood test results?

You will not only receive your lab results but also a comprehensible classification with explanations of what the results mean. This way, you can make informed decisions about your health.

If you generally do not wish to engage with your values, our tests are not the right solution for you.

Are the blood tests really reliable?

Yes, our tests are evaluated by certified medical laboratories that also analyze regular medical blood samples.

All tested parameters are validated on capillary blood and provide the same results as venous blood.

If I have to go to the doctor anyway in case of abnormalities – why not go there directly?

Can't I also have these tests done for free at my general practitioner?

The possibility of having certain tests done at your general practitioner certainly exists. However, what 'free of charge' means can vary. Do I have to draw blood myself?

In most cases, the blood sample is taken by a professional Probatixpartner, such as a pharmacy near you. If there is no partner location near you, you can order a home test kit and conveniently collect the sample yourself at home in just a few minutes.

Does my health insurance cover the tests?

Currently, our tests are unfortunately not yet covered by health insurance companies. After the test, you will receive an invoice from us, which you can submit to your health insurance company for reimbursement – it's worth a try. We are also working intensively to ensure that our tests will soon be covered by health insurance companies.

How do I receive my test results and how quickly are they available?

You will usually receive your results within 5-7 business days directly in your Probatix-Health Portal. There you will also find simple explanations and timelines, allowing you to quickly identify trends and changes and take appropriate action.

What makes Probatix different from conventional home tests?

Probatix differs from conventional home tests through professional and comprehensive support from sample collection to evaluation. If you have a partner location nearby, you can ideally have the sample collection carried out by one of our professional partners, such as a pharmacy. This ensures that the entire process – from collection to transport to analysis – is conducted under the highest quality standards. We are working daily to expand this network.

If there is no partner location nearby, you can alternatively have a home test kit sent to you and conveniently perform the sample collection yourself. In any case, you benefit from the digital traceability of your test results.In contrast to a simple PDF that you would otherwise receive after a blood test, with Probatix you can view your results at any time and track them over longer periods. This allows you to continuously monitor your health and identify trends and changes.

How are my personal data and test results protected?

The data at Probatix is protected according to the highest security standards. The information security management system of Probatix is also certified by TÜV Süd according to ISO 27001.

Is it something like Theranos?

Short answer: No. Primarily because we are a software provider, while Theranos produced medical devices.

More detailed answer: With Probatix , we aim to provide people with easier access to their own health data through our software. We act as an interface that connects users with qualified laboratories to have blood values professionally analyzed. We then provide the results digitally. Our role is that of a software provider that promotes transparency and accessibility in healthcare.

In contrast, Theranos was a company that developed medical devices and misled both patients and investors through deliberately false promises.The machine manufactured by Theranos never worked, and the samples were actually secretly analyzed on real laboratory equipment. The book "Bad Blood" by John Carreyrou is highly recommended if you want to learn more about it.

What happens if my test results are abnormal?

In the case of noticeable test results, we generally recommend consulting a doctor. This will soon also be possible directly via the Probatixplatform.

What is MyProbatix?

MyProbatix is your platform for a comprehensive overview of your health. Here you can easily and efficiently manage relevant health information, book health tests, and view results. We offer you a user-friendly environment to actively participate in the care of your health and develop a better understanding of your personal health values.

How can I manage my MyProbatix account?

To manage your MyProbatix - account, simply click on the "Account" option at the top right. There, under the "Edit" tab, you can adjust personal information and make the desired changes. This allows you to flexibly customize and maintain your account information.

I forgot my MyProbatix password, what should I do?

If you have forgotten your password, simply click on "Forgot Password". You will then receive a reset link via email, which you can use to reset your password. Follow the instructions in the email to set a new password and regain full access to your account.

I would like to delete my MyProbatix account, how do I do that?

To delete your account, please send a request to support@probatix.de. Our support team will promptly take care of it and assist you with all necessary steps.

How can I cancel or reschedule a test at the pharmacy?

Rebooking: On my.probatix.de, in your customer account under "Appointments", you can edit the appointment and select a new date. Both you and the pharmacies will be notified of the appointment change.
Cancellation: After you have canceled the appointment, the money you have already paid will be credited to the payment method you selected.

Can I add the appointment at the pharmacy to my calendar?

Yes, in the appointment confirmation you received via email, you can choose whether to add the appointment to the Google Calendar or the iOS Calendar.

How is the payment made?

Payment is made directly through the my.probatix.deplatform. You can pay conveniently and securely using various payment methods such as credit card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, Giro Pay, SEPA, or PayPal. We offer a variety of options to provide you with a flexible and convenient transaction process.

How long does a capillary blood draw take?

In general, a blood draw takes about 5 to 8 minutes. However, this can vary depending on the individual.

Are there any special preparations that should be made before the health tests?

Fluid Intake: Drink enough water and avoid coffee and sugary drinks. This can facilitate blood collection.
Relaxation: Try to be relaxed before the test. Stress and excitement can affect blood pressure. It may also be helpful to swing your arm and warm your hands before the test.
No Exercise: It is recommended not to exercise before the blood draw, as physical exertion can alter the results of certain blood values such as electrolytes, enzymes, and hormones, leading to inaccurate diagnostic results.

How does the testing process work in the pharmacy?

The pharmacy staff performs the capillary blood collection by taking a few small drops of blood from the fingertip. The finger is punctured with a lancet and is relaxed on the blood collection device. Through a vacuum effect, the required amount of blood is collected in a tube. The process usually takes 2 to 4 minutes. Afterwards, the puncture wound is treated with a bandage, and that's it!

The pharmacy staff takes care of the registration of the blood sample and its shipment to the laboratory.

A few business days after the blood collection, you will be notified by email that the results are available. You can view them in your MyProbatix account.

How does the testing process at home work?

The blood collection process at home with a test-at-home kit begins with thoroughly cleaning the hands and preparing the kit according to the enclosed instructions. First, the finger is punctured with a lancet, and blood is collected from the fingertip. These blood drops are then placed into a sample tube. After collection, the sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis. Finally, the test results should be interpreted according to the instructions, and medical professionals should be contacted if necessary.

Will needles be visible?

In a lancet puncture, the needles are usually not visible as they are housed within the lancet casing and only briefly protrude upon activation to penetrate the skin. This minimizes the visibility of the needle.

Does the finger blood collection cause pain?

The finger blood collection usually causes only minimal pain. The prick with a lancet is quick and is often perceived as a slight sting or tingling. Most people find the pain significantly less compared to a venous blood draw with a needle in the arm vein. However, the perception of pain can vary from person to person and also depends on the sensitivity of the finger skin.

How much blood is needed?

The required amount of blood varies depending on the test. In most cases, at least 500 microliters of blood are needed, which corresponds to about 10-12 drops of blood. There are also test variants that require double the amount, i.e., two times 500 microliters of blood.

I would like to conduct multiple tests at once. Is that possible?

Yes, however, we recommend conducting a maximum of two tests in one day and waiting a few days before conducting further tests.

What personal data is transmitted to the laboratory?

The laboratory evaluates the samples anonymously. The laboratory receives only the date of birth and gender, the type of test, as well as the test location, date, and time of execution.

Is the blood collection device certified?

Yes, the device has the CE mark and meets the safety and health requirements set out in the European directives.
